My Daily Scripture
What gets you going for the day? Is it a cool shower in the morning? Or that cup of coffee? What is it the energizes you and gets you ready for the day? For me, it is my daily Scripture.
Daily Scripture Reading
This is the time in the morning when I am communing with God, just the two of us. Basking in His presence and letting Him guide me as I search the Scriptures for a special promise that I can hold onto as I go through my day. It calms me. And yet, It energizes me! Knowing my heavenly Father loves me abundantly and is with me throughout the day fills me with hope.
Special Daily Scripture
One day with my Father stands out in my memory.
It was my birthday. And in my time alone with God, I was seeking a very special verse; one that had significant meaning for my birthday. One that would last me all year long. My idea of the perfect verse was the one that goes something like this: “You formed me in my mother’s womb…”
So, I searched for it. I knew it was in Psalms but, since there are 150 chapters, I had no idea where to look. I decided to check the concordance. I figured the word ‘womb’ would be the place to start. There was only one verse in Psalms listed but that wasn’t the one I had in mind. Then I looked up the word ‘formed.’ Again, there was only one verse listed in Psalms. And again, it was not the right verse. It was then I decided that I would just flip through and see if I could find it.
I know my Bible extremely well. I have been reading out of it for about twenty or more years now. I have a habit of reading through the entire Bible once a year. So, I must’ve read this one at least twenty times. When I thought of a verse, I could picture where on the page it was; which column and approximately how far down. This verse, I knew was in the bottom half of the third column. I was confident that I could find it just flipping through pages.
As I began, my eyes were drawn to all the wonderful verses that I had highlighted over the years. Tears came to my eyes as the Spirit moved in me, flooding my soul with not only memories but emotions. All of the awesome times my Daddy and I have spent together poured into my heart. Reading His love letter to me filled me with a feeling of warmth and love; a love so amazing that I couldn’t begin to describe it.
I never did find that verse I first sought out. I found so much more!
His special verse for me that day turned out to be… all of them! Each of those highlighted verses represented a meaningful, special time with my Daddy. They were His reminder to me of all the special and precious times we have had together and of the awesome relationship that we share. Knowing that He loves me with an unconditional, abounding love fills me with awe! And I know and trust that He will never ever leave me.

Cause me to know the way in which I should walk. For I lift up my soul to You… In You I take shelter.
Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; Your Spirit is good.
Lead me in the land of uprightness.
