A young boy named Joseph, dressed in his coat of many colors, was dreaming. Music was playing as he sang his musings. The heavens were all around him with stars twinkling and the moon shining. That was the only light. Everything else was dark. As he dreamed, Joseph’s feet left the ground and he flew gracefully among the stars. Suddenly, he flew directly toward me, stopping only a foot of so in front of my face. He stayed for only a second. Then, as quickly as he came, he was gone, continuing to float throughout the sky.
This was the highlight of the play for me. Even though I was sitting in the balcony, about as far away from the stage as I could get, I got a close and personal look at the main character. Instead of just watching the story, I was drawn into it. Because of this, it became more real to me.
However, the real highlight began after the play. My son-in-law, Craig, who worked at the Sight & Sound Theatre gave me a total access, behind-the-scenes tour. He introduced me to the actors. I talked with them. They told me how it felt to portray these amazing people in history. I saw how the sets were made. I was able to touch live animals and discover how their trainers motivated them to perform. I even learned the secrets of how Joseph and the angels were able to fly above the audience. During the play, I had wondered how it was all accomplished. But, with total access to the backstage, I learned everything I wanted to know. It was amazing!
Getting total access to someone great is a privilege. But you need to know someone who can get you in.
It’s the same with God. Sin creates a wall of separation between us and God. He created us to have fellowship with Him. And He loves us so much that it broke His heart to be separated from us. So, God did an awesome thing! He sent His Son, Jesus, to take our punishment and die on the cross to pay for our sins. Jesus is the only One who can get us that backstage all-access pass.
The good news is that, all we have to do is accept Jesus as our Savior. Knowing Jesus is our ‘in’ to the Father; total access, 24/7/365.
The Bible tells us:
“..God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand…” Romans 5:1-2
“For through Him we both [Jews and Gentiles] have access by one Spirit to the Father. Ephesians 2:18
“..Christ Jesus our Lord, in Whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.” Ephesians 3:12
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved..” Acts 16:31
Not everyone has total access. But, everyone can! Our Father has provided total access to ALL. He is just waiting for each one of us to believe for ourselves. He longs to have a loving relationship with you.
If you’ve never experienced this and want to, just pray this prayer:
Dear God, I know I am a sinner and I’m sorry. I believe that You sent Your Son, Jesus, to pay the price for my sin. I accept Him as my Savior today. I love You, Daddy! Amen.
